If you want to create good looking documents on your Mac, you basically have three options: Learn typography and buy a DTP-program such as Quark or InDesign. Give up the idea of having good looking documents and use Word. Open LyX, and then go to LyX Reconfigure, and Restart Lyx. Again, this was very straightforward. No hitches here. Step 6: Go to Document Settings Document Class manuscript (clv2) Since I wanted an article and therefore changed clv2.layout, I found an article (clv2) in my list of document classes. Hope this helps. Tools Reconfigure, then quitting and restarting LyX. I was on LyX 2.0 when this started. I erased LyX 2.0 from my computer and installed LyX 2.1. At Library/Application Support/LyX-2.1/ there is the same texmf file there, so it does look like the installation of LyX 2.1 correctly copied all of that information. Full computer restart. LyX/Mac is available as a self-installing binary based on LyX 1.3.7 and the GPL Qt/Mac library. The prerequisites are Mac OS 10.2 or later and teTeX. If you prefer to build LyX/Mac, instructions are included in the LyX source. Note: All users should run the LyX Installer.command included with the LyX/Mac-1.3.7 distribution.
